This article explains how to create a transmission log from an iMETOS 3.3 station and send it to METOS Support when requested. Providing a correct log helps our support team diagnose issues faster and reduce resolution time.
Important Notes Before You Start
Before generating and sending a transmission log, please ensure:
Your iMETOS 3.3 is running the latest firmware
The station battery is charged to approximately 6.5V
You follow all steps exactly as described
⚠️ Logs sent without the required settings may delay troubleshooting.
Prerequisites
Before you start, ensure you have:
A computer with PI Service Terminal installed
A mini USB cable that supports data transfer
Physical access to the iMETOS 3.3 station
A charged battery (~6.5V)
No jumper is required for this operation
Step 1. Install PI Service Terminal
Download the latest release of PI Service Terminal - LINK
Install the application - LINK
Launch the application on your computer
Step 2. Connect the iMETOS 3.3 Station
Plug in the USB cable
Turn on the iMETOS 3.3
In PI Service Terminal, make sure the following options are enabled:
✅ Save to Log
✅ Timestamp
⚠️ These options are essential for METOS Support team to analyze the log correctly.
Click Connect
Step 3. Wait for the Connection to Complete
The connection process may take several minutes
During this time, the screen may display ### - this is normal, just wait
The process is complete when the yellow LED stops blinking
➡️ If nothing appears on the screen:
Disconnect the battery and solar panel
Wait 30 seconds
Reconnect both
Repeat the steps above
Step 4. Retrieving and Sending the Log
The log is automatically saved once Save to Log is enabled
The file location is shown in the status bar of PI Service Terminal
To send the log:
Open the folder shown in the status bar or
Click Send in PI Service Terminal
Fill in the required fields
Send the log via email
Understanding LED Behavior (Helpful for Troubleshooting)
Startup phase:
Yellow LED blinks with 0.5-second pauses
Transmission phase:
Yellow LED blinks with 1-second pauses
Number of blinks (1–4) may vary during transmission
⚠️ Startup time can be longer if the station memory is heavily loaded.
Common Issues & Solutions
Issue Battery Depleting
(Example: 6.7 V → ~6.2 V) or below minimum operating threshold ➡️ Battery Thresholds – LINK
A depleted battery can occur for several reasons. The most frequent causes include:
- Solar panel is shaded
- Solar panel not detected
- Oxidized or loose battery cables
- Battery has reached the end of its lifespan
- Network issues causing the station or modem to hang
- Firmware bugs
Check the following
- Ensure the solar panel is not shaded
- Confirm the solar panel is plugged in correctly
- Verify the solar panel cable/plug is not oxidized
- Ensure the solar panel cable/plug is not loose
- Ensure the device is running with the latest firmware release → Refer to: “4. Check the Firmware Version”
Suggested solutions (if voltage is below the recommended threshold)
- Replace the battery or
- Recharge the battery
Issue No COM Port Appears in PI Service Terminal
Check the following
- Battery voltage:
- ~6.5 V → METOS 5, µMETOS, iMETOS 3.3 / ECO D3
- ~3.6 V → nMETOS, LoRAIN, LoRATH family
- Battery cable is properly connected on both ends of the battery and the connector
- USB cable supports data transfer (some USB cables are power‑only)
Suggested solutions (if the issue persists)
- Try using another battery
- Try using another USB cable
- Go to PI Service Terminal → Settings → Reset all settings
Modem Not Responding
Responses Example:
- LTE/NBIoT Module Rebooting (Hard Reset)... Failed or Baud Rate Not Found
- Modem AT interface not responding... no echo
Check the following
- Battery voltage:
- ~6.5 V → METOS 5, µMETOS, iMETOS 3.3 / ECO D3
- Firmware is up to date → Refer to: iMETOS 3.3 and ECO D3 - Firmware Update.
Suggested solutions (if the issue persists)
- Update the firmware → Refer to: iMETOS 3.3 and ECO D3 - Firmware Update.
- Try using a different SIM card
- Replace the modem or the board
